David got kicked out of the blog so let's talk behind his back

Dashboard Confessionals (please hold your groans I don't care if you don't like them) (I personally hate them and know for a fact that they have more estrogen than any girl I have ever met) and if you like them than you are no longer allowed to read this blag. Anyways have we all heard the song screaming infedelities?
Thought you had- but I guess you haven't heard the sound of pms in song form yet, so heres a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7itHHrTty0.
Yes he does for real say you hair it's everywhere, screaming infedelities. Trust me I have hair that says a lot of things (people often say things back) but it has never gotten a song written about it.  Anddd I would never ever expect people to feel so strongly about that line.
So here is where dave comes in- no his hair does not scream or any other bad behaviors, its just kind of ugly. What is really important is how david related to this song http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Screaming-Infidelities-lyrics-Dashboard-Confessional/60D942EBC2EE290348256B33004910B7
Yes he is a real man and shared his feelings with the world. Please read the lyrics, and the comments. Can you guess which one is dave's?
Yep the english sheep dog (they really do shed all the time)
So I guess this post is really actually deeper than dave's ugly hair or my yoga hair or even unfaithful hair. What it's about is sharing feelings, and how songs make you feel. So I think david has given me a new hobby commenting on lyrics. And yes this will probably result in making fun of people.
In actuality this is what dave was doing, we've never had an english sheep dog only belgian sheep dogs (they shed too, but are in fact extremely faithful so therefore their hair does not scream infedilities). I hope no one gets offended- actually I hope people on the site think he's serious. If you want please share with me a song that you (and hopefully others) can relate to!

Sad songs

I am really not a sad person, I'm extremely optimistic but a lot of my music wouldn't suggest that. So I've decided to do a post on sad songs! One of my new fav sad songs is "'59 sound" by Gasllight Anthem which is now being played on the radio constantly and I basically break down into tears everytime I hear it. Which is wicked dorky but here's a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw3w1iKiq8M&feature=related, and here are the lyrics http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/t/the_gaslight_anthem/the_59_sound.html
Liz has to sing to me on my deathbed and you all better not play bad music at my funeraul, let this be a written notice

Blag all about it

- Josh wants me to blag more often, sorry I get distracted easily and my life hasn't been blag worthy lately although josh and I had a riveting convo last night but thats another story so I've found something to blag about

Today I was asked by a friend, to protect her we will call her steph, and she asked, "Were you a backstreet boy girl?" after hearing me decline to being labeled as an nsync listener. While in reality I am neither. Personally I consider myself an L.F.O. girl, we are a special breed- they had one hit basically and I latched on. So now you know I Kristen(and maybe dave) am an L.F.O. girl- please no more gasps when I decline nsync or backstreet boys they are neato in their own right.
L.F.O.= limes for oboists?

p.s. the secret friend steph was an all three-er

Blog Band of 2006

Cold War Kids, please use youtube, or other music freeway to listen to them while readin this post. They have been called the "Blog Band of 2006" with the hype surrounding "Robbers and Cowards" thier debut album, well guess what in 2006 I fell in love with them. And now its 2008, they seem to have fallen back into obscurity (so sad) and have just come out with their sophore album, "Loyalty to Loyalty" with it's first single "Something is not right with me". Yes I do own both albums, but am going to focus on "Robbers and Cowards". Maybe later I will do a "Loyalty to Loyalty" post, it surely deserves one.
I love Robbers and Cowards, in just one album it brought Cold War Kids from OMG I love that song "hang me up to dry" on the radio let's hope the DJ had a minor injury so he doesn't change the song, to Cold War kids easily one of my top three bands. I could listen to the CD on repeat, every single song, forever. When I listen to it, all the songs give me the feeling of being home. The heavy percussional beats mixed in with the constant deep guitar strumming, while Nathan Willet bangs out lilting sounds to balance out such hard noises on his keyboard, and uses a shakey verbrato voice to convey a musical story with passion. Npw I'm sure you all are thinking, okay Kristen we don't need another pansy indie skinny jeaned singer, we've got conor oberst already. 1. Conor has grown up and is no longer crying during songs. 2. The strength in the songs by Cold War Kids is astounding.
Let's start at the begining, the first song on "Robbers and Cowards", "We used to Vacation" creates a personal feeling bringing in a broken down family on the surface. But to me there is more than that, lyrics like "I promise to my wife and children that accident left everyone a little shook up, but at the meetings I felt so empty, this will blow over in time" you don't need an alcoholic in the family to understand that feeling of endless hope and unconditional love.
Alright I promise I'm not going to go one by one through the entire album but "Hang me up to dry" was the second single off the CD, and what got me into this band. Even Kate Nash has done a cover of it.  As with most Cold war Kids songs, we have a heavy beat with the guitar and piano and bass creating a Monet of a backdrop for Nathan Willets vocals. I do believe this was the song that gave them the "Indie Rock with some Blues, emo, and folk" label which basically leaves labelers saying "leave your label makers at home and enjoy the music" especially since they aren't indie, they are signed. And the lyrics are also beautiful as always I would suggest reading them while not listening to that osng, they are quite interesting.
Okay for now the last song I will go through- Hospital Beds. Blah I adore this song so much. Probably my favorite all time lyrical quote comes from this "The Joy and Misery" thats probably the only thing I would ever get tattooed on my body. I couldn't tell you the connection I have with this song, I just hear it and melt. Its inexplicable until listened to. I also really like the repeated imagery in this song, "Putout the fire boys, don't stop don't stop, put out the fire on us" and so on. The way its sung together with the music it litterally puts a picture in my mind of a building on fire, with people frantically trying to put it out knowing that their efforts could very well be in vain. This song was covered by Florence and The Machines very interestingly focusing much more on a female's shakey yet strong singing.
If you can't tell I love this band, and I know david does too. We also can't wait to see which of thier albums becomes the classic (it's going to happen we know it) I say Robbers and Cowards will have itss own reprise, while david is looking forward with eager eyes to their junior and senior albums.  Also I hope david will throw some more info in at this band because I haven't even touched the new album really, or songs like Old Saint John, or Passing the Hat.
-go listen to more cold war kids, and keep loving limes

The art of starting a fad

Okay so maybe that title was a little much but it's late and I needed something. What I am basically saying is how happy I am that all the sudden a lot of my friends have blogs! I thought oh man I'm bored let me start a blog with my brother david, and then Kaddy (kadaxcom) and Anya (dandelionlover) and Liz(this is not o.k. with me) and Kelsi(little umbrellas) all have them too! Although Kelsi and Kads had theirs previously. Still though I felt like this was something really neat that we could all do together!
I love seeing everyone get involved in something so much. I think the key ingriedient in starting something is showing an honest interest in it. And now we have a few new lovely things to enjoy, although we need to remember where it all started! Here- this blog needs to stay most famous, if not than I'm going to have to start thinking of new things and its basically the eleventh commandment that I should not be allowed to think.
Anyways I don't really know what this post is about because it's kind of late for me to be up- but idk when my next posts will be because DAVID ought to do something for this. And we are visiting family for the holidays, and will have quite restricted internet use.
I like making paper chains.
Liz remember swearing is good porn is bad
Faithful reader(s) remember where it all started! haha jk I know we are not the first to have a blog... but its kind of cool to have friends to do this with, and it gives me something to do while I can't sleep. And I've gone through all the clearance internet pages of Urban outfitters, rugby, and J. crew.
Sincerly,
Ms. K
P.S. Don't give your children dumb names like Cooper or Fraizer unless they have a meaning or you honestly like them, their mean babysitters who you make babysit for ten hours will poke fun at them because of their names. I don't even like Dane Cook and I brought it to the how I need the coops for the BK Lounge.

Just quick advice
